When Charles Macintosh introduced waterproof clothing, Stephen Winckworth Silver set up a factory at Greenwich, making similar garments. Later this expanded to include insulated wires and cables.
1855 October 9th. Died. His place in running the business was taken by his two sons, Stephen William Silver and Hugh Adams Silver, who continued to expand the business.
