Tay Bridge Works

From Graces Guide

1871 De Bergue and Co were appointed contractors for the Tay Bridge. They constructed a foundry to manufacture the ironwork.

1871 July 22nd The foundation stone was laid.

1873 After Charles de Bergue was taken ill, Hopkins, Gilkes and Co took over the foundry and completed the contract for the bridge.
