1840 Partnership dissolved between Thomas Anderson and James Tedswell, Minshull Street, Manchester, machine makers [1]

1850 Listed in Slater’s Manchester & Salford Directory under 'Machine Makers and Tool Makers and Dealers', at Canal Street and Minshull Street. The 'Streets' section of the directory places the premises as the first building in Canal Street from Minshull Street. Reference to the 1849 O.S. map [2] shows Minshull Street Iron Works (Engines & Machines) at this location.

Adshead's 1851 map identifies the building as J. Houtson & Co's Machine Works.
