Thomas Ball was born in 1911 and received his engineering training at Leyland Motors, Ltd.
In 1933 he joined the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co. as Assistant Engineer, leaving the Company in 1937 to become Repair Shop Engineer with Shell-Mex and B. P.
He was commissioned in 1939 as Workshops Officer in the R.A.S.C. and attained the rank of Captain. He was serving in the Middle East when he received fatal wounds early in 1943.
He was elected a Graduate in 1936 and transferred to Associate Member in 1942.
