1869 Thomas Summerson acquired the Albert Hill Foundry, Darlington, and started in business on his own account.

The business late took the title of Thomas Summerson and Sons, making points and crossings for railway track.

1900 The company was registered on 17 May, to acquire the business of railway plant manufacturers of the firm of the same name. [1]

1906 Acquired the adjacent works belonging to the Darlington Wagon and Engineering Co.

1914 Directory: Listed as Railway Plant manufacturers. [2]

1919 Expanded into Barningham's foundry on Albert Hill

1937 Steel founders. "Sorboleum" Steel Castings. [3]

1953 Private company.

1961 Railway plant engineers, contractors and manufacturers of switches and crossings. 230 employees. [4]

1972 Railway plant manufacturers and contractors - was in liquidation[5]
