'Mr. Thomas Yule, chief project engineer, Southern Project Group, Central Electricity Generating Board, died on November 23, after a motor accident.
Mr. Yule graduated in engineering at Liverpool University and served a college apprenticeship with Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Company Ltd., with whom he subsequently worked on erection contracts at home and abroad - in Russia, India and South America. From 1933 to 1938 he served with Imperial Chemical Industries, Power Division, working on the construction and operation of steam and electrical generation and distribution plant in electro-chemical establishments in Widnes and Runcorn. In 1939 he joined the Sheffield Corporation Electricity Department as assistant construction engineer and then for a short time was assistant station superintendent at Ironbridge Power Station, West Midlands Joint Electricity Authority. He joined the Brighton Corporation Electricity Department in 1944 as power station superintendent, Southwick Power Station, and became deputy engineer and manager for that department a year later. In 1948 he was appointed chief generation engineer (Construction) for the Eastern Division of the then British Electricity Authority. Mr. Yule became chief project engineer for the Board's Southern Project Group when this Group was formed in 1958.'
