Thomas Anthony Donald Crook (1920-2014) of Anthony Crook Motors

1953 Managing Director, Anthony Crook Motors, Ltd., Caterham Hill. Born Preston, 16th February, 1920. Educated at Clifton College, Bristol; and Sydney Sussex College, Cambridge. Studies were interrupted by war in which served with commission in R.A.F. in Western Desert campaigns. Returned to Home Service in 1942. Twice mentioned in Despatches. On demobilisation in 1946 joined Raymond Mays' racing garage at Bourne as Sales Director. In 1947 formed own company in Caterham. Holds or has held numerous sports car records with Alfa Romeo, B.M.W., and Frazer-Nash Cars. In a Bristol 2-litre covered 104 miles in 1 timed hour at Montlhery Race Track. Won outright the Daily Express International Trophy for Production Cars (Div.') at record speed at Silverstone, 1951. Held sports car lap record at Castle Coombe, Goodwood etc. Hobby : Record breaking. Private address: 36, Town End, Caterham, Surrey

1959 Formed present company to distribute Bristol cars, 1946; subsequently, distributor of Fiat, Abarth, Simca and A.C. cars; had successful career as international racing driver until retirement, 1955, and established a number of long distance records in Bristol and Bristol-engined cars. 1973 Became the owner of Bristol Cars
