1924 Company formed to manufacture electric vacuum cleaners[1]

1929 Moved to larger factory

1931 Enlarged the factory

1932 Started to make refrigerators.

1934 Public company incorporated to acquire the company. Maker of Vac-tric cleaners. Refrigerators had been discontinued

1946 Factory moved to Scotland which, combined with reversion to peace-time work, considerably distrupted the company's business[2]

1952 Due to drop in demand, production was discontinued at the Newhouse, Scotland factory and production facilities elsewhere were sought[3]

1955 Strengthened the business by rehousing the service and precision control motor departments and expanding the precision tool section[4]

1957 Introduced electric washing machines[5]

1958 Sold its hire purchase subsidiary[6]

1960 Vactric (Precision Tools) Ltd and Vactric (Control Equipment) Ltd traded profitably but the domestic appliances activities lost so much money that the group made a loss[7]

1960 October: Receivers appointed[8]. Direct selling of appliances was stopped[9]

1961 Manufacturers of small electric motors, floor polishers, washing machines and vacuum cleaners. [10]

1961 Vactric (Precision Tools) Ltd and Vactric (Control Equipment) Ltd were acquired by the News of the World Organisation[11]
