The business of Victor Louis Joseph Brasseur, a French engineer, born 14 December 1842 in Sainghin-en-Mélantois 1 and died on 1 January 1892 in Nice.

He worked at the steam engine factory of Paul Le Gavrian (Le Gavrian et Fils) at Porte de Valenciennes in Lille, and bought the business in 1881.

The company became the Société des Matériaux Jean Crépelle, then Crépelle SA. Subsequently, its subsidiary specialising in compressors was bought by Fives-Lille and its Diesel division merged into SACM Diesel.
