Victoria Station and Pimlico Railway

At just under a mile (73 Chains), this line ran from the West End of London and Crystal Palace Railway near the Battersea terminus to a new station in the Grosvenor Canal basin, at Victoria Street, Pimlico.[1]

1858 The company was established. [2]

1858 The Act of Parliament authorizing the construction of the Victoria Station and Pimlico Railway received the Royal Assent on the 23rd of July, 1858. The LB&SCR subscribed half of the capital and was entitled to half of the new station. Sir John Fowler was the engineer.

1859 The first stone of the bridge across the Thames was laid - see Victoria Railway Bridge

1860 The line and Victoria Station were opened in October 1860.[3]

1868 Engineers are John Fowler and William Wilson.[4]

1923 Became part of Southern Railway. [5]
