Beehive Works, of Retford

1895 Mr. Charles Hopkinson, of the Beehive Works, Retford, died; William John Jenkins began business as a gas engineer at the Beehive Works, under the title of W. J. Jenkins and Co. Under his management the business increased rapidly. He began work with about forty men.

1896 Company founded.

1898 Private company.

1911 The firm employed about 400 men.

1914 Specialised in labour saving machines for gas plant and coke works[1]

1961 Materials handling, coal preparation plant, constructional and gas engineers and iron founders. 700 employees. [2]
