William Rowed

1908 'Mr. William Rowed, who was formerly station master at Paddington, and succeeded in that position Mr. W. A. Hart, M. V. O., has been appointed superintendent of the Exeter Division, in Succession to the late Mr Samuel Morris. When at Paddington he was a resident of Ealing, and a familiar figure in St. Stephen's-road. Mr. Rowed has seen nearly forty years' service with the Great Western, passing successively through the Divisional Superintendents' offices at Bristol and Hereford, and coming to Paddington in 1881, as chief clerk in the stationmaster's office. From Paddington he went to Swindon - where curiously enough, he commenced his railway career - as assistant superintendent of the Bristol division, but on the opening of the short route to the West of England, via Berks and Hants line, removed his headquarters to Westbury. 1911 'Mr. W. Rowed, of Exeter, has been appointed to succeed Mr. George Grant as the Divisional Superintendent of the G. W. R. Company at at Plymouth.'[2]
