WALTER GRAHAM was chairman of Messrs. John Hastie and Company of Greenock, whom he joined in 1898, and was responsible, during his twenty years' connexion with the firm, for the entire reorganization of the works. He retired in 1918.
He served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Barclay Curle and Company of Glasgow and attended evening classes at the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College.
He then joined Messrs. Stevens and Struthers of Glasgow as draughtsman, and in 1896 entered the works of the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company of Govan for a further twelve months. During this period he went to sea as a junior engineer in the s.s. "Arracan," belonging to Messrs. Patrick Henderson and Company of Glasgow.
Mr. Graham was born in 1873 and his death occurred on 15th April 1932.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1900 and transferred to Membership in 1905.
