1934 'Cider Developments. Although Whiteways Cyder Co., Ltd., has been formed as a public concern to takeover the family business of Henry Whiteway and Co., Ltd., which was established in with an issued capital of £20,000, the Whiteway family retaining a considerable interest in the new company, and there will be no alteration in the management. The Devon cider business is domiciled at Whimple, where, on the Harbertonford Farm, cider has been manufactured for over years. Shares in the new undertaking will shortly offered privately to customers and employees.'[3]
1935 'Negotiations are now concluded whereby the firm of Whiteways Cyder Co., Ltd., are taking over on April 1 the extensive factories of Messrs. E. Hill and Sons, Staverton. It will be remembered that two years ago Whiteways purchased the whole of Henley and Sons Cyder Co.'s business in London, Newton Abbot, and Abbotskerswell, and Last year absorbed the extensive orchards and factory of Schweppes, of Hele, and ater of Hunt and Sons, Crabbs Park. With this further purchase from Hills their cyder factories and orchards are now the most important in Great Britain. It the intention of Whiteways to carry on the factories at Staverton in exactly the game way as in the past, and probably extend them considerably.'[4]
