Wilbur Wright, brother of Orville Wright, designers and constructors of the first power-driven aeroplane to fly carrying a pilot.
1909 Awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Aeronautical Society at a ceremony held at the Institution of Civil Engineers
1912 Died aged 45 years.
Wilbur once quipped that he did not have time for a wife and an aeroplane. He became ill on a trip to Boston in April 1912. After returning to Dayton, he was diagnosed with typhoid fever. He died, age 45, in the Wright family home on May 30.
