With his wife Sarah Allen (age 39 born Lydeard St. Lawrence) and their two children Maria Allen (age 12 born Lydeard St. Lawrence) and William Allen (age 9 born Lydeard St. Lawrence). One visitor. One servant.[1]

1876 January 8th Birth of son Arthur Clifford Allen

1911 Living at 46 Bridge Street, Taunton: William Allen (age 59 born Lydeard St. Lawrence, Somerset), Mechanical Engineer - Employer. With his wife Emily Allen (age 59 born Kingston, Somerset). Married 36 years with one living child.[2]

1933 'DEATH OF WEST COUNTRY ENGINEER. Taunton has lost one its oldest and best known business men by the death, which occurred at Tone Bridge House, of William Allen. head of the firm Messrs C. Allen and Son. Ltd., motor engineers, Taunton, Bristol, and Mr Alien was a native of Lydeard St. Lawrence, where his father, C. Allen, was an implement maker and pioneer in the practice of hiring out threshing machinery for agricultural work.'[3]
