Allen and Son. Ltd., motor engineers, Taunton, Bristol, and Mr Alien was a native of Lydeard St. Lawrence, where his father, C. Allen, was an implement maker and pioneer in the practice of hiring out threshing machinery for agricultural work.'[3]
