1862 Patent. '1288. To William Bickford Smith, of Camborne, in the county of Cornwall, Merchant, and William Bennetts, of Tucking Mill, in the county of Cornwall, Engineer, for the invention of "improvements in the method of, and apparatus for, preventing the injurious effects occasioned by smoke, sulphur, and the deleterious gases which escape from stacks, chimneys, calcining houses, chemical and other furnaces."[1]

1870 Married (2) to Anna Bond

1870 Patent. '1735. And William Bickford Smith, of Tuckingmill, in the county of Cornwall, Safe Fuze Manufacturer, has given the like notice in respect of the invention of "an improved coating for safety fuzes used in mining."'[2]

1881 Residing at Trevarno House, Sithney: William Bickford Smith (age 63 born Camborne), J.P. With his wife Anna M. Bickford smith, four daughters and a son George P. Bickford Smith (age 8).[3]
