1841 William Chadwick of Adelaide Place, London bridge, a contractor for engineering works, became a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.[1]

1838 Contractor for the Maidenhead Railway Bridge and erred in removing the supporting timber frame before the mortar was sufficiently set.
