1936 Died. 'announce the death at his home Donnybrook” Westfield-road Leicester of Mr William Cubitt only five months after his retirement from business was a director of Freeman Hardy Willis Ltd and his retirement was due to poor health. Not was he well known in the shoe trade in this country but also on the continent. Starting as a boy when the business was under the style of Leavesley and North. Mr Cubitt was with the firm for 47 years He was on the manufacturing side all his business life and from being the manager of the Burlington Works Humberstone-road was appointed to the board when the business was formed into limited company. Since the war he has also been on the board of Charles Case and Son Ltd tanners of Westbury...'[1]
