Lt.-Col. William Duguid, M.C., was elected a Member of the Institution in 1922, and was also a Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers.
He received his technical education at Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College, and served an apprenticeship with Messrs. Mechan and Sons, Scotstoun, and Messrs. McKie and Baxter, Govan, after which he was engaged with the Anglo-Persian Oil Co., Abadan, for five years.
During the 1914-18 war he joined the Tank Corps, and served in France with the British Expeditionary Force, being awarded the Military Cross. Subsequently, he became Technical Adviser (R.T.C.) in Ireland, and then held various posts in the Royal Army Service Corps and Royal Army Ordnance Corps in Egypt and India, and finally at Army Ordnance Services workshops, Woolwich Arsenal. In 1945 he was promoted a Lieutenant-Colonel.
His death occurred in October 1955 in his sixty-seventh year.
