William Henry Davies (c1849-1907)

1907 Obituary [1]

WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES died at his residence at Alsager, on Sunday, January 20, 1907, from heart failure, at the age of fifty-eight. He was a native of Monmouthshire, and was at one time manager of the Monmouthshire Steel and Tinplate Company's works at Pontymistu, but was appointed in 1902 manager of the works of the Shelton Iron, Steel, and Coal Company, Limited, Stoke-on-Trent.

His death was quite unexpected, as he was at the offices of the company on the previous day. He was a Justice of the Peace for the county of Monmouth, a member of the Institution of Mining Engineers, and of the Colliery Managers' Association.

He was a constant attendant at meetings of the Iron and Steel Institute, of which he was elected a member in 1882, and accompanied the members on their visit to the United States in 1904.
