Born the son of William Burton Palmer, an Ironmonger, and his wife Eliza Keywood Smith

1934 Married (2) at Bognor. 'The marriage took place on Saturday last of one of Bognor's oldest inhabitants, Mr William Palmer, of Ivy Lodge, London Road. to Mrs. Annie Marks, of "Manura," High Street, Bognor Regis. Mr. Palmer. who is 82 years of age, was born in the High Street, Bognor, on March 2, 1852, and is probably the only man who can remember seeing the first pile placed in position lee the construction of the Pier. He is a director of the well-known ironmongers' firm of Pryke and Palmer, Ltd., and it is interesting to note that his partner, the late Sir William Pryke. was lord Mayor of London.'[1]
