"WILLIAM THOMAS GEORGE was an Associate Member of the Institution for over forty years, having been elected in 1906. He received his education at the North Wiltshire Technical School and served his apprenticeship in the locomotive works of the Great Western Railway at Swindon, from 1888 to 1894.
After three years as junior engineer to the Hastings Gas Co the remainder of his career was identified with engineering in London, where he successively occupied positions as draughtsman to various firms, including Messrs. Humphrys and Tennant, Ltd., with whom he remained for three years. In 1903 he accepted a similar appointment with Messrs. Dewrance and Company, Ltd., and subsequently was with Messrs. Hunt and Mittens. The last twenty years of his life were spent with Messrs. Grabham and Company, Ltd. Mr. George's death occurred on 19th June 1947 in his seventy-fifth year."
