Important Piecemeal Sale of High-class Modern Engineering Tools and Plant, Steam Boilers, Steam Engines, Mill Gearing, Shafting, Piping, Loose Working Tools, Finished Machinery various kinds, extensive Stock-in-Trade, New Stores, Horses, Carts, Lurries, Office Furniture, &c, and the whole of the exceedingly Valuable Patterns used in connection with the old-established and well-known business of Mr. William Lancaster, and applicable for various classes of textile machinery.
EDWARD RUSHTON and SON respectfully announce receipt of instructions to SELL BY AUCTION, on the premises as above, on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday, March 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 7th, 1892, the Whole of the Valuable ENGINEERING PLANT, PATTERNS, STOCK-IN-TRADE, &c., in and upon these extensive works.
The catalogue will include the motive power, &c., consisting of circular, wrought-iron, high-pressure, Lancashire steam boiler, 28ft. long by 7ft. 6in. dia., for 75lb. pressure, Calverley, Burnley ; one ditto, 28ft. by 7ft., by Layfield and Calverley; excellent pair of horizontal, compound, condensing steam engines, with high-pressure cylinder 16in. dia., low-pressure cylinder 30in. dia., 3ft. stroke : extensive ranges of polished wrought-iron main cross line counter shafting up to 5in. dia., well fitted with bevel wheels, drums, pulleys, self-adjusting hangers, &c.; several thousand feet of wrought-iron, high-pressure steam piping, from 2in. to 1/2in. dia.; and the entire ranges of wrought-iron gas and water piping, and fittings throughout the works.
The Fixed and Loose Tools, and Machinery are all in first-clast working order and by well-known makers, including J. and S. Smith, J. and J. Kershaw, Darling and Sellers, Dean, Spencer and Co., Ambler and Dickinson, Whitworth and Co., T, Robinson and Sons, Dent and Holt, Kendall and Gent, William Lancaster, and others, and embraces eight planing, 12 vertical drilling, seven slotting and shaping, five milling, and three wheel-cutting machines; self-acting sliding, surfacing, screw-cutting, and other special lathes, gap and plain beds; 68 double-geared and ungeared hand-boring, turning, and other lathes: self-acting horizontal rail drilling machine, with four spindles ; self-acting roller beam and rail cutting machine, self-acting punching machine, combined punching and shearing machine, hydraulic crank bending machine, one 5-cwt. and one 1 1/2-cwt. steam hammers, two Ryder's patent four-hammer forging machines, six smiths' hearths and blow fans for same, nut tapping, spindle bushing, and rimering machines ; Brown's patent bolt screwing machine, three large grindstones, with iron troughs, three pairs emery glazers, bending and flattening rolls, cold iron sawing machine, four-spindle grinding machine, emery wheels, three circular saw benches, band-sawing, wood-planing, and thicknessing machines; seven hand presses, wire rolling and punching machines, 43 flyer polishing and rattle boxes, five horizontal vertical steam engines, about 50 patent instantaneous grip parallel vices, ranges of fitters' benches, store racks, joiners' benches, platform weighing machines, Denison's patent 30cwt. suspended weighing machine, extensive assortment of loose steel tools, drills, files, screwkeys, hammers, belting, and strapping, smiths' anvils, swage blocks and tools, office furniture, horses, parts, lurries, &c.
The valuable Patterns, in iron and wood and on plates, for cop, pirn, and drum winding machines, beam warping mills, tape-sizing and size-mixing machinery, looms, dobbies, cloth-plaiting machine, hydraulic cloth presses, patent mule-throstle, general millwrights' work, steam engines, and various other machinery. The patterns will be offered in one lot, and, if not thus disposed of, they will be sold piecemeal in lots as catalogued.
The Stock-in-trade includes new cop and pirns winding machines, Lancaster's patent; beam warping mills, tape-sizing machines, cloth-plaiting machines, looms and other machinery, several hundred tons of new castings, new bar iron, wrought-iron shafts, steel and iron tubing, tool steel, contents of store rooms, bolts, setscrews, wood screws, new files. 10cwt. scrap brass, new brass fittings, new cut timber, 676,900 new ring travellers for mule throstle frames, 1,370 new Rabbeth doubling spindles, and general assortment of stores, aud other effects.
