1773 [[John Mander]] started chemical manufacturing, producing pigments used in the production of paints and lacquers. His nephew [[Charles Mander]] went into manufacturing varnish and was in turn followed by his two sons, Charles Benjamin Mander and Samuel Small Mander.


1845 With his brother [[Charles Benjamin Mander]], Samuel formed the partnership [[Mander Brothers]] to continue the family paints and varnish business in the centre of Wolverhampton.
