1879 April 02nd. Died. 'the late chairman (Mr John Perry), who died on the 2nd April last, was elected a director of the company 1863, and became chairman on the retirement Dr. Carne in 1877.'[3]
1879 Obituary. 'The death is announced of Mr. J. Perry, of Bristol, as chairman of the Taff Vale Railway Company and the Bristol and South Wales Wagon Company; he showed great tact, urbanity of manner, and common sense.'[4]
