After serving his apprenticeship, from 1913 to 1917, with Messrs. James N. Durie, screwing machine makers, and with Messrs. Mr. Midgley was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1940, a few months before his death. He was killed in an air raid on 13th September 1940, in his forty-sixth year.
