"SAMUEL OGDEN was an Associate Member of the Institution for thirty-six years, having been elected in 1909. He served his apprenticeship from 1900 to 1904 with [[Royce Ltd|Messrs. Royce, Ltd]]., engineers, of Manchester, and received his technical education at the Manchester Technical School. He then became shift engineer at the power station of the [[Newcastle Electric Supply Co]], and after holding this position for six years was appointed engineer surveyor to the [[Vulcan Boiler and General Insurance Co|Vulcan Boiler and General Insurance Company, Ltd]].
