1902 Lecturer in printing department at Manchester College of Art, later becoming head of department

1915 Married Margaret.

1921 London manager of Stephenson and Blake, letter founders

1931 Joined Lorilleux and Bolton, inkmakers

1935 Appointed editor of the Penrose Annual, recording new developments in printings and the graphic arts

1942 Became technical editor of the King Penguin series of books

1943 Adviser to Spicers, paper makers
