HERBERT KEMISH was associated for many years with Messrs. Walker and Greig of Colombo, Ceylon, whom he joined in 1912, subsequently becoming a director.
He returned to England about ten years ago to act as their advisory representative in London.
He was born in 1870 and served his apprenticeship from 1887 to 1892 with Messrs. F. Savage and Company of King's Lynn, manufacturers of agricultural machinery. He also attended the Lincoln Technical School.
He was then engaged for twelve months in the drawing office of Messrs. Ruston, Proctor and Company of Lincoln.
In 1893 Mr. Kemish first went to Colombo as works manager for Messrs. C. A. Hutson and Company, and he subsequently became manager of one of their branches with full responsibility for the design and erection of engineering works. He was licensed by the Ceylon Government to examine steam-boilers and the persons in attendance on them as required by the Government.
Mr. Kemish was elected a Member of the Institution in 1921.
His death occurred on 10th December 1932.
