Freightliners Ltd. of Cardington Street, London (a British Rail service since mid-1960's). Owned 51% by the state owned National Freight Corporation and 49% by British Rail.
The concept was of containerisation, where the customer would supervise the loading of their merchandise into a container.
1974 16,000 container loads were being moved nightly by Freightliner trains.[1]
