1867 December 13th. Born in Camberwell the son of James Arthur Drake, Engine Fitter, and his wife Maria

1892 Patent. No. 15,034, George Hitchcock, James Arthur Drake, and Arthur James Drake, Sheffield — improvements in the regulating and supply of oil in hydro-carbon motors.[1]
1892 Married at Guildford to Edith Emily Martin.[2]
1897 Joined Daimler
1900 Works Manager of Daimler.[3]
1901 Joined Stirling's Motor Construction Co., Ltd.
1904 'DRAKE, Arthur J., A.M.I.M.E., Russell Place, Edinburgh. Car: 5-h.p. Stirling phaeton. Total distance travelled since becoming a motorist: About 100,000 miles. Is manager of Stirling's Motor Construction Co., Ltd., Edinburgh, and designer and introducer of the well-known Stirling omnibus and public service car. Is devoting particular attention to light railway and tramway motors up to 100 horse-power. Was for four years works' manager of the Daimler Motor Co. Has many valuable and important patents. Club: Scottish Automobile.'[4]
