1897 Private company incorporated in Denmark to acquire a company founded in 1854[1]

c.1902 The Scandinavian Sophus Berendsen Co introduced a proprietary rat poison, Ratin, to the British market as well as in Scandinavia.

1906 The first U.K. sales office for Ratin was opened - presumably Sophus Berendsen (London) Ltd; Sophus Berendsen retained the exclusive U.K. license.

1913-1917 Sophus Berendsen (London) Ltd were importers of the Danish Ruxham engine. For a list of the models and prices of Marine Motors see the 1917 Red Book

1920s the British sales office for Ratin began providing pest control services, rather than simply selling the Ratin poison system

1957 Sophus Berendsen was major shareholder of British Ratin when it acquired Rentokil Ltd.

1997 The company was split in two - the new Sophus Berendsen continued to own 10 percent of Rentokil Initial; the new Ratin owned 32.2 percent of Rentokil Initial, which was its only business interest[2]

c.2000 Rentokil Initial acquired Ratin[3]
