In the early years of Sydney’s business, his two eldest sons Joseph and Samuel greatly helped their father in testing his many inventions, and he soon employed his eldest sons in turn in the business which later became Sydney Smith and Sons
1862 The Firm’s name was changed to Smith Brothers and Co
1864 Sydney Smith retired from Smith Brothers and Co, handing it onto four of his sons and his son-in-law.
