1863 Advert: 'THE STEANDER CUT NAIL WORKS. DOLPHIN FOUNDRY, EAST STREET, LEEDS. TO CUT NAIL MANUFACTURERS AND OTHERS. MESSRS. WICKS and BEST are favoured with instructions TO SELL BY AUCTION, on the premises, East Street, Leeds, on Tuesday the Thirtieth day of June Instant, at Eleven o'Clock in the Forenoon, unless previously disposed of by Private Contract, of which due notice will be given, the whole of the valuable MACHINERY of the Steander Cut Nail Works, East Street, Leeds, comprising TWENTY-ONE NAIL MACHINES, nearly new and of the best construction, and making from 1/4 inch Tacks to 7 inch Braggs ; six Grindstones ; one Slide Lathe, 7 1/2 inch centres, with gauntry, 14 feet long, and Screw Cutting all the length ; one excellent Drilling Machine ; three nail machines in course of making; the Iron Work, employed in the construction of five Blueing Furnaces ; one superior Washer Making Machine; together with all the Models, Anvils, Bellows, Taps, Dies, Cutters, Belting, &c. &c. The Machinery is in excellent condition, capable of manufacturing twenty-five tons of nails weekly, and presents an opportunity to purchasers rarely to be met with.
