The Stanley Co was set up by Thomas Williams to smelt the ore from the Mona mine at works near St Helens and at Middle bank works in Swansea.
A subsidiary manufacturing company called the Greenfield Copper and Brass Co was set up in Flintshire. This company took the copper from the Stanley works and reacted it with calamine to make brass. This was then used to make a wide variety of articles.
1787 The Meadow Mill factory was built at Holywell. It produced rolled copper sheets for the Greenfield Copper and Brass Company.
Pascoe Grenfell became a shareholder in Williams' manufacturing business, Greenfield Copper and Brass Co
Owen Williams was a partner in the company during his father’s lifetime.
1814 Williams and Grenfell bought out the Greenfield manufacturing operation.
