Freightliners Ltd. of Cardington Street, London (a British Rail service)
1965 The new service was inaugurated between Glasgow and London. The concept was of containerisation, where the customer would supervise the loading of their merchandise into a container.
1966 c.1,100 containers were being carried per week; services also included Manchester, Liverpool, Aberdeen[1]
1969 Owned 51% by the state-owned National Freight Corporation and 49% by British Rail.[2]
1974 16,000 container loads were being moved nightly by Freightliner trains.[3]
