1896 Feb 17th. A meeting and exhibition of Horseless Carriages at the Imperial Institute organised by the Motor Car Club.

1896 February 17th. The public were invited to subscribe for shares in the Daimler Motor Company formed to take over from the Daimler Motor Syndicate.

1896 Feb. The Motor Car Club formed

1896 May 6th. A. G. New performs on a motorcycle at the Catford cycling track

1896 May 9th. Motor Show at the Imperial Institute

1896 Sep 24th. Paris to Marseilles race

1896 XXX xxxx. Roots and Venables commenced producing a small number of motorcars,

1896 Nov 14th. 1896 London-Brighton Run held to celebrate the new Act

1896 Dec 20th. First running of omnibuses of the London Electric Omnibus Co.^[1]

1896 Dec 31st. Thornycroft tested a steam van from Chiswick to Cardiff (164 miles in 25 hours) carrying half-a-ton.^[2]^[3]
