Part of GEC
1967 Combination of the relevant GEC and AEI businesses:
- Satellite Communications brought together AEI aerials with GEC communications technology
- AEI's various automation activities were being rationalized and brought together at Leicester with GEC Computer and Automation
- AEI Marine and Ground Radar business and the Scientific Apparatus division were important businesses.
- AEI Semiconductors had a satisfactory end to the financial year.
1967 GEC-AEI Automation of Leicester gained a Queen's Award for control equipment for coal mines. The Scientific Apparatus gained a Queen's Award for the double focus mass spectrometer.
1968 Queen's Award to Industry for Technological Innovation to GEC-AEI (Electronics)[1]
1968 The Radar, Aerospace, Defence and Communications divisions of GEC-AEI (Electronics) became part of GEC-Marconi Electronics[2]
