William George Beattie (c1842-1918), locomotive engineer, was the son of Joseph Hamilton Beattie.
c.1842 Born in London, the son of Joseph Hamilton Beattie, the Mechanical Engineer of the London and South Western Railway[1]
1862 He joined the London and South Western Railway as a draughtsman at Nine Elms Locomotive Works.
1869 Joined I Mech E
1871 Succeeded his father in the same position from 23rd November 1871.
He was not however a success in this post and was forced to resign in 1878.
1880 resigned from I Mech E
1918 He died in London[2].
