ERNEST FORDER was born at Wolverhampton, in May 1884, and was educated at the local Grammar School.
He served his apprenticeship with the Electric Construction Co., Ltd., in his native town, passing through the various departments during the years 1900 to 1905, and spending the next two years upon outside work for the same firm.
A visit to the Attassie Gold Mines, Africa, followed in 1907-8, where he superintended the erection, by native labour, of surface plant, including boilers, engines, generators, crushers, and other items.
On his return, after a short engagement as assistant engineer at the Neasden Station of the Metropolitan Railway Co., he was appointed Station Superintendent in the County Borough of Wolverhampton Electricity Department; and this position he held up to the date of his death, which occurred at Wolverhampton, after a serious operation, on 15th January 1925.
He became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1920.
