1817 After the dissolution of the partnership of Grimshaw, Webster and Co, John Grimshaw (1763-1840) continued to run the business, which presumably became John Grimshaw and Co
Supplied ropes for the inclined planes on the Stockton and Darlington Railway and the Canterbury and Whitstable Railway and, in 1830, for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway tunnel inclined planes in Liverpool.
1847 The company advertised ropes for marine use.
1847 Dissolution of the Partnership between Joseph Pringle Simpson, Thomas Wight, and William White, as Rope Manufacturers, at Bishopwearmouth, in the county of Durham, under the firm of John Grimshaw and Company; the business was carried on by Thomas Wight on his own separate account[1]
1850 NOTICE is hereby given, that Thomas Wight, of Bishopwearmouth, in the county of Durham, Rope Manufacturer (carrying on business under the style or firm of John Grimshaw and Co.), hath by indenture, bearing date the 16th day of July instant, assigned all his personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever, for the benefit of his creditors, unto Joseph Lumsdon, of Bishopwearmouth aforesaid, Merchant, and Edward Monusey, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Merchant[2]
