FRANK GORDON LAGERWALL was born at Ramsgate on 30th July 1877.
He was educated at Oxford House School, St. Alban's, and King's College, London.
In 1893 he commenced his engineering training with Messrs. E. B. Parr and Co. of Bermondsey, engineering, agricultural, and general pattern makers and millwrights, which was followed by eighteen months' experience in the moulding and casting departments of the Phosphor Bronze Co.
He was next employed for over two years in the works of the Maxim, Nordenfeldt Co. at Erith, and during 1898-1899 he worked in the erecting-sloop of Messrs. Easton, Anderson and Goolden, of Erith.
On the termination of this engagement he became a draughtsman in the employ of Messrs. Babcock and Wilcox, London, until November 1901 when he was appointed resident engineer on the extension works of Aberdeen Wharf, Limehouse.
