Edwin Augustus Stevens ( -1868) Engineer of Hoboken, New Jersey.
Edwin Augustus Stevens, an American engineer; brother of Robert L. Stevens; son of John Stevens, of Hoboken
1827 Applied forced draught to a marine boiler in the North America - this was said to have been the first such application.[1]
1837-8 the brothers Stevens tried an exhaust fan on a horizontal spindle in the chimney of a shop engine at the works of the Camden and Amboy Railway.
1838 they fitted a similar fan to the steamboat Philadelphia
He also invented the air-tight fire-room, which was used in conjunction with forced draught.
Worked on testing armour using thick iron plates and laminated armour.
