Wholesale Grocers, Wine and Spirit Merchants
Established in 1709. Is one of the oldest commercial houses in London. Was conducted in latter part of eighteenth century under style of Smith, Kemble & Travers, and the senior partner at that time (William Smith) was M.P. for Norwich. In 1777 style of the firm became Smith, Kemble, Travers & Kemble; in 1807, Smith,Travers, Son & Kemble; in 1814, J. Travers & Son; in 1819, J. Travers & Sons. Incorporated in 1889.
