Sold to a management buy-out team as a result of privatization.

1989 Stagecoach acquired the business and quickly disposed of outlying operations (those to the west towards Manchester were either sold to Drawlane plc (later British Bus) or absorbed by Ribble Motor Services Ltd, while the Essex operations were sold to Capital Citybus.

1990 East Midland acquired Maun of Mansfield, consolidating its position in that area.

1993 East Midland disposed of its coaching operations to Skills of Nottingham.
