1906 Renamed Needlers Ltd
1932 Fred Needler died; the business was one of the largest in Hull
1938 Developed a method of making clear glace fruit drops which proved to be a great success
1970 Acquired Batger and Co; centralised production at Hull.
1985 Acquired by Hillsdown Holdings as a first step to building a confectionery business; he made chocolate and boiled sweets.
Late 1980s: Hillsdown merged Needlers into the Blue Bird Confectionery business, closing Needlers factory and virtually abandoned the Blue Bird name.[1]
