1969 The Empire Rib Company changed its name to Range Engineering Industries. Activities included steel rolling and heavy engineering, light engineering and plating[1]
By 1970 owned Heeley Spring and Pressings, one of 2 remaining umbrella makers in the UK[2]
1977 Raine Engineering Industries made its final bid for Sheffield Brick Group[3] but this seems to have been unsuccessful.
1982 Renamed Raine Industries plc
1986 The private housebuilding and property company Miller Wheeldon was taken-over by the company[4]. In fact this was a reverse take-over [5] which led to new management and a change in Raine's strategy. At the same time Miller Wheeldon acquired C. Price and Son. Sold Fox Umbrella Frames Ltd. Group companies included:[6]:
