Specialities: wood block floorings, mouldings, creosoting, fencings etc. The principals of the firm were: George Jewson, J.P., John William Jewson, Richard Jewson, William Henry Jewson, Percy William Jewson[1]

1968 Acquired by Horsley-Smith[3]
1970 International Timber was formed when Gliksten and Son took in the Horsley Smith and Jewson group'
The name of Jewson Ltd was changed to Jewson (Holdings) Ltd
1983 The name of Jewson and Sons Ltd was changed to James Scott and Son Timber Ltd

1984 Jewson and Sons was acquired by Meyer International. The name of Jewson and Sons Ltd was changed to Jewson Ltd; the name of Jewson Ltd was changed to Jewson and Sons Ltd. The name of Jewson (Holdings) Ltd was changed to Meyer International Merchants Ltd., the chain of builders merchants that Meyer established.
1987 Meyer International acquired the Harcros business and put it together with its own Jewson chain, effectively doubling the size.
1990 James Scott and Son Timber Ltd became part of United Builders Merchants
2000 Meyer was acquired by Saint-Gobain of France, becoming part of that company's growing building materials distribution activities[5]
