1908 The [[Taff Vale Railway]] company promoted a bill to allow a large new pontoon to be built at Penarth Docks; this worried the Cardiff dry dock operators so much that a clause was inserted in the bill that the Taff Vale Co would continue to give all reasonable facilities to other shipbuilding and repairing firms for surveys and repairs at Penarth<ref>The Times  Mar. 25, 1908</ref>
